Who I Really Am.
A while back, a friend asked on his blog... what we see when we see ourselves through our own eyes. What our dreams are... who our true selves are, what we would do if we could do anything.
This is what I said.
To stand on a stage in front of a crowd of people. To make them laugh until they roll in the aisles, then sober them in a moment of well-placed silence. To bring a perfect nuance, a confident touch, a promise of emotion, a river just under the surface of my skin... from the moment I walk onstage.
To sing at the very top of my voice and feel it ring through the seats, ripple to the very last person sitting there, entranced. To make goosebumps raise on people's arms, to make their heads spin with honesty and pure emotion. To make tears spring to eyes by suspending a note a moment longer than they expected; to make veins thread and overflow with pride at seeing me standing there-- when they are complete strangers.
To fling out my arms, take a stand, be blinded by a spotlight... and just let go. Defying gravity. Defying everyone. To live their dreams for them, in spite of them, because of them.
